Director of Development
Grace O’Doherty
Grace is a graduate of UC Berkeley, where she designed her own major called “Psychocinematics” by fusing Cognitive Science, Psychology and Film. Through specialized coursework and a senior thesis, she explored what happens in the brain when audiences are presented with content spanning the genre spectrum. From taking courses such as Color Theory and Perception, she delved into Film, TV & Media studies through a scientific lens.
Outside the library, Grace jumpstarted her professional career with internships at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live in New York. After graduating from Cal in 2017, Grace moved back to New York City and started climbing the production ladder full-time. First working as a Production Assistant and ultimately reaching the Producer level, Grace worked on a variety of shows and projects. Her production credits range from MTV’s TRL in the heart of Times Square to a sketch comedy show taped in Provo, Utah.
Equipped with a strong background in production, Grace is now moving towards a career in development. By working with production companies, networks and studios, she aims to help craft the next generation of stories that are produced and spotlight the voices of underrepresented writers. Grace also has a special interest in developing content for overseas audiences. Having spent significant time in Mumbai, India and the Czech Republic, Grace is excited to help expand the slate of globally focused shows at The Gurin Company as the Director of Development.
